Gin Granade
A Gin Granade is a highball cocktail made with gin, mint, a shot of lemon and pomegranate juice poured over ice. It is usually garnished with fresh mint. The amount of gin varies according to taste. Suggested ratios of gin to pomegranate juice are 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 2:3.〔Regan, Gary (2003). The Joy of Mixology. New York: Clarkson Potter. p. 259. ISBN 978-0-609-60884-5.〕 In the United States, most bars use pomegranate juice made from concentrate that in no way, shape or form resembles pure pomegranate juice. According to bartender , to get a real Gin Granade "fresh juice as well as a truly noble-minded gin" is highly recommended. Although a rather young creation, the longdrink has already made it to the list of so-called classic shortcuts: Friends of the Gin Granade usually just order a "double G". == History== The longdrink was introduced by Kai Schmelzle,〔http://www.cargocollective.com/kais_portfolio〕 a creative who had the idea at a client meeting. Credit must also be given to his long-time team partner Lukas Weigerstorfer who is believed to have helped him in creating the final version of the recipe. This is further supported by the fact that Weigerstorfer is the son of an old Austrian liquor dynasty.〔http://www.spezialnussbacher.at〕
